Features & Attributes

Rieger Begonia features dainty yellow frilly flowers at the ends of the stems from mid spring to mid fall. Its succulent heart-shaped leaves remain green in colour throughout the year.

This is an herbaceous evergreen houseplant with a mounded form. This plant usually looks its best without pruning, although it will tolerate pruning.

Planting & Growing

When grown indoors, Rieger Begonia can be expected to grow to be about 14 inches tall at maturity, with a spread of 10 inches. It grows at a medium rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for approximately 3 years. This houseplant should be situated in a location that that gets indirect sunlight at most, although it will usually require a more brightly-lit environment than what artificial indoor lighting alone can provide. It requires an evenly moist well-drained soil for optimal growth, but will suffer if left to grow in standing water.
